Aims and Scope of the Journal

International Standard Serial Number: ISSN: 3057–0875 (Online)

The Journal of Modern Buddhist Studies aims to promote academic research and serve as a platform for the dissemination of scholarly works, including research articles, academic articles, book reviews, and other related contributions in the following fields:

  • Religion and Theology

  • Buddhism

  • Philosophy

  • Liberal Arts

  • Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences

All published articles are reviewed by at least three qualified experts in the relevant fields. The journal accepts manuscripts in both Thai and English.


Publication Frequency

The journal is published twice a year as follows:

  • Issue 1: January – June

  • Issue 2: July – December

  1. Academic Articles

  2. Research Articles

  3. Book Reviews

  4. Other articles consistent with the journal’s aims and scope

Note: No publication fee is charged.


Peer Review Process

Each submitted manuscript undergoes a peer review by at least three experts in the relevant academic field. All reviews are conducted using a Double-Blind Peer Review process, in which the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Final acceptance is subject to approval by the editorial board.

Submitted articles must not have been previously published or be under consideration by any other journal. Authors must comply with the journal's guidelines and conditions for publication.

Author Guidelines
Journal of Modern Buddhist Studies (JMBS)

The Journal of Modern Buddhist Studies (JMBS) has updated its referencing style and article preparation guidelines to enhance the quality and consistency of academic articles. The editorial team has established specific conditions, regulations, and procedures for article submission, including referencing in compliance with APA 6th edition standards. Clear examples and explanations are provided to ensure authors follow the guidelines accurately.

Key Updates:

Abstract Format

  • Abstracts should not exceed 320 words, written in both Thai and English.

Article Length

  • Articles should not exceed 15 pages, including the abstract and references.

Publication Frequency

  • The journal is published twice a year:
    • January–June
    • July–December

Multi-Objective Research Articles

  • The journal accepts research articles with multiple objectives and diverse topics. The structure must align with the provided framework.

Referencing Style

  • References must strictly follow the APA 6th edition format.

Implementation Date

  • The new guidelines and requirements will take effect starting from Volume 4, Issue 1 (January–June 2025). These updates aim to elevate the standard of research and academic articles to align with international standards in modern Buddhist studies.
