THE SIGNIFICATION OF CONTEMPORARY BUDDHIST ART: INTERPRETING BUDDHIST DHARMA THROUGH DIGITAL ART

Abstract

This academic article aims to analyze the signification of contemporary Buddhist art in digital form, focusing on the interpretation of Buddhist dharma through digital artworks by contemporary artists. This study employs qualitative research methodology through interpretative analysis of digital artworks with Buddhist-related content. The findings reveal that contemporary artists have presented interpretations of Buddhist principles through digital media in various forms, including virtual reality, animation techniques, and interactive art, while maintaining the essence of Buddhist teachings intact but presented in a contemporary format that effectively reaches digital-age audiences. This study reflects the evolution of Buddhist art adapting to modern times and the use of digital technology as a medium for propagating Buddhism in contemporary society.
