Abstract

This inaugural issue of the Journal of Medical and Health Profession Education (MHPE), supported by the Office of the Promotion and Development of Physicians and Medical Personnel (OPD), features two interesting review articles. The first is a factor analysis that should be useful for those interested in analyzing data from questionnaires using the Likert scale, a commonly used tool in medical education data collection. The second article discusses the teaching model of Team-based learning (TBL), which incorporates the flipped classroom concept, emphasizing student-centered learning and utilizing peer-assisted learning mechanisms. Additionally, there are three other noteworthy medical education research papers, including one on the prevalence and factors associated with sleep quality among medical students, highlighting the common problem of sleep deprivation among medical students and its potential impact on academic and work performance. The research paper, "Factors Affecting the Choice to Study Residency Programmes in Regional Hospitals in Thailand," examines the increasing number of hospitals under the Ministry of Public Health accredited as residency training institutions in various specialties. This raises the interesting question of what factors influence the choice of training at central or regional institutions. The third research paper, "Evaluation of student engagement in Pediatric Advanced Life Support workshop among Year 5 and Year 6 medical students," compares the participation of 5th and 6th year medical students in pediatric advanced life support training. It explores whether prior experience in pediatric life support may affect student engagement. The MHPE journal is published trilaterally, and we invite those interested in medical education or related health science education to submit articles and research for publication to broaden the dissemination of knowledge in this field.
