This study aimed to: 1) develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a cooperative learning plan using the Teams-Games-Tournament (TGT) technique on “Economics and Life Practices” in Social Studies for Grade 8 students, in accordance with the 80/80 criteria; 2) compare students’ academic achievement before and after implementing the TGT technique; and 3) examine students’ analytical thinking ability after participating in TGT-based learning. This quantitative research targeted 17 Grade 8 students at Ban Na Ko School, academic year 2024, selected purposively. Research instruments included 10 lesson plans, a 30-item achievement test, and a 20-item analytical thinking assessment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results indicated that: (1) the developed lesson plans achieved an effectiveness of 90.41/83.92, exceeding the set criteria; (2) students’ post-test academic achievement was significantly higher than the pre-test scores; and (3) students’ overall analytical thinking ability was at a very good level, with an average score of 17.29 out of 20 (86.47%). The findings suggest that the TGT technique is an effective approach to enhance both content knowledge in economics and the development of analytical thinking and collaborative skills, which are essential competencies for 21st-century learners.
