The Development of Nipa Palm Leaf Stalk Tearing Machine for Community

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) create a Nipa palm leaf stalk tearing machine for community, 2) find the efficiency of the Nipa palm leaf stalk tearing machine for community, and 3) study the users’ satisfaction of the Nipa palm leaf stalk tearing machine for community. The participants in this research included 7 experts in machine design and construction and a group of 10 housewives of Khlong Khut, Satun Province selected by purposive sampling method. The research tools included a quality assessment form, a recording form for interpreting the experimental results, and a satisfaction assessment form. The data were analyzed by percentage, average, and standard deviation.

The research results showed that the evaluation of the quality of the developed machine by the experts in design and construction revealed an IOC consistency value of every item equal to 0.93. In addition, the efficiency of the leaf stalk tearing machine from the community was at the level of 71 percent. The level of users’ satisfaction of the leaf stem tearing machine was at the highest level (mean (μ) = 4.64, standard deviation (σ) = 0.46).
