Improving Students’ Performances in PLC Program Design via Skill Exercises Based on Polya’s Problem-solving Process

Abstract
This study aimed to: (1) improve students’ learning achievement in PLC control program design using skill-based exercises based on Polya’s problem-solving process, (2) determine the effectiveness index of the instruction, and (3) assess students’ satisfaction. The participants were diploma-level students enrolled in the Industrial Control Systems Course (code 30104-2006), Electrical Power Department, Trang Technical College, selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments included instructional plans, an achievement test, and a satisfaction questionnaire.
The results showed that the learning achievement reached an effectiveness score of 84.37/82.50, exceeding the set criterion. The effectiveness index was 0.76 (76%), and students’ satisfaction was at the highest level (=4.73, S.D. = 0.49).
