A COMPARISON OF ENGLISH SPELLING AND READING ACHIEVEMENT USING THE SQ5R LEARNING MANAGEMENT MODEL FOR GRADE 3 STUDENTS AT ANUBAAN CHIANGMAI SCHOOL

This research article aims to 1) compare the English spelling and Reading achievement of Grade 3 students at Anubaan Chiangmai School using the SQ5R learning management model, and 2) investigate the satisfaction of Grade 3 students at Anubaan Chiangmai School with the SQ5R learning management model. The sample consisted of 63 Grade 3 students from Anubaan Chiangmai School, selected through simple purposive sampling. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a single experimental group, measuring outcomes before and after the intervention. The research instruments consisted of (1) lesson plans based on the SQ5R learning model, (2) an English spelling and reading achievement test, and (3) a student satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including the mean and standard deviation, and inferential statistics using a paired-samples t-test at the .05 level of statistical significance.
The results revealed that 1) students’ English spelling and Reading achievement, after participating in learning activities using the SQ5R model, was significantly higher than before the intervention at the 0.05 level of statistical significance, and 2) the students’ satisfaction with the learning process using the SQ5R model was high () = = 4.45, S.D. = 0.85)
