Abstract

This academic article examines the Khao Jee merit-making tradition in an urban context, aiming to study its historical development, ritual patterns, and adaptation in contemporary society. Using qualitative research methodology through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, the study reveals that while the tradition has adapted to suit urban contexts, it maintains its core ritual elements. Key adaptations include streamlined ceremonial procedures, integration of technology for publicity, and fusion with contemporary cultural activities. Nevertheless, the tradition continues to serve as a social space connecting people and reflecting community cultural identity
