Abstract

The rituals of spirit possession in Thai culture exhibit linguistic and sociological complexity. This research aims to explore the role of language in such rituals, focusing on linguistic and sociological analysis. The findings reveal that the language used in these rituals possesses unique features that reflect community beliefs and values. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates the use of language in constructing power relations and cultural identity. This article enhances the understanding of the significance of language in spirit possession rituals through multidisciplinary perspectives.
