IDENTITY AND NEW MEANING CONSTRUCTION OF TRIPLE ROBES IN CONTEMPORARY THAI SOCIETY

This academic article aims to examine the transformation of identity and meaning of triple robes (Trai Jeewon) in contemporary Thai society through sociological and anthropological perspectives. The study reveals that triple robes in today's Thai society are no longer limited to their traditional role as monks' garments but have been reinterpreted and given new meanings in various dimensions, including as symbols of faith, sacred objects, cultural products, and religious identity markers. These changes reflect the dynamics of Buddhism in Thai society and the adaptation of the monastic institution amid globalization and consumerism.
