Letter to the Editor

Abstract

This editorial of the Journal of Medical and Health Profession Education (MHPE), issue number 1 of 2026, is supported by the Office of the Promotion and Support for the Production and Development of Physicians and Medical Personnel (OPSMP). This issue features two interesting review articles. The first addresses the current focus on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a research assistant, enabling researchers to work more efficiently. The second article concerns the use of simulations in teaching medical students, a crucial aspect of postgraduate medical training. Additionally, there are three noteworthy research papers in medical education: "Assessing General Doctors' Ophthalmic Competency and the Impact of Continuing Professional Development," which assesses the competencies of ophthalmologists, providing guidance for aligning ophthalmology education with practical application for postgraduate physicians. The second paper, "Factors Associated with Burnout among Medical Students: Roles of Grit, Resilience, and the Educational Environment," studies the role of internal student attributes, known as grit and resilience, along with educational environmental factors, in contributing to burnout among medical students. The third paper, "Online Learning and Its Impact on Perception of Health and Clinical Skills Among Clinical-Year Medical Students," presents the impact of online learning on medical students' perceptions of health and clinical skills. The MHPE journal is published every three issues annually. We invite those interested in medical education or related health science education to submit articles and research for publication in this journal to broaden the dissemination of knowledge in this field. Submissions are accepted in both Thai and English.
