AI as a Medical Research Assistant
Keywords:
Artificial Intelligence, AssistantAbstract
In the 21st century, medical knowledge has expanded at an unprecedented pace, while the time available for clinical training and practice remains limited. Consequently, research has become both a necessity and a challenge for physicians and medical students. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has therefore been introduced as a research assistant aimed at enhancing efficiency and productivity. However, a fundamental principle must be emphasized: AI serves as an assistant rather than a researcher. Some have described this role as “co-intelligence,” yet it remains incapable of replacing human judgment, accountability, integrity, and transparency in the actual conduct of research.
