An Implementation of the Buddhist Teachings for Public Welfare Management of Thai Sangha

Abstract
This thematic paper investigated on study the public welfare management of Thai Sangha for to applying the principles of public welfare management of Thai Sangha to society. The research method was document-based using a descriptive analysis method.
The research results found that public welfare is significant virtue as the Buddhist affairs of Thai Sangha which provide great benefits for the public and to develop society in various ways. In times of crisis, Sangha have provided assistance, reliefs suffering with basic necessities. Sangha should apply the Buddhist virtues in their hearts, namely the four Brahmavihāra teaching, namely mutual assistance between the temple and the villagers which consists of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathy, and equanimity. It was considered as good deeds to create a society filled with supreme living. Other teaching is 4 Sanghavatthu consisting of: 1) Dāna or giving, or generosity, 2) Piyavācā or beloved speech which means polite speaking, sweet words, 3) Atthacariyā which means helping with physical effort, doing beneficial things to others, 4) Samānattatā or maintaining oneself consistently, supporting the minds of victims to overcome the crisis occurred, carrying out social assistance not contrary to the virtue and discipline. The public welfare management conducted by Thai Sangha should be planned for effective management including training activity of personnel to be volunteers before to ensure quality and efficiency. The Sangha should play as the center for coordinating work that benefits the people, carrying out activities of funds raise for public, preparing to set up relief units to provide shelter if necessary.
