Developing morality and ethics according to the principles of Kalyanamitthamma 7 In the Theravada Buddhist scriptures

Abstract

This research aims (1) to study the principles of morality and ethics in Buddhist scriptures, (2) to study the principles of the Seven Kalyanamitra Dhamma in Buddhist scriptures, and (3) to study the development of morality and ethics according to the Seven Kalyanamitra Dhamma in Theravada Buddhist scriptures. This research is a documentary research using descriptive analysis

The research results found that morality is something expressed in the mind, ethics is something expressed in the body, knowing what should and should not be done, being mindful and aware. Morality is an important foundation in developing people to have wisdom, knowledge, and morality. The 7Kalyanamitra principles are 7 principles and morals that are characteristics of Kalyanamitra according to the Buddhist principles in Buddhism. (1) Piyo is a person who is rich in wisdom in both worldly and spiritual matters. (2) Kru is firm, and maintains the right view. (3) Bhavaniyo is knowing how to explain things so that they can be understood. (4) Vatta is ready to listen to advice and questions. (5)Vajanakkhamo is explaining difficult content so that it is easy to understand. (6) Gambhiranaja kathaṃ kattā is practicing the Dhamma. And (7) No catthane niyojaye does not advise on nonsense and does not lead in a harmful way.

The development of morality according to the 7 Kalyanamitra principles is (1) having good human relations. (2) behaving appropriately according to one's status. (3) have true knowledge and wisdom, be a trainer and always improve yourself; (4) know how to explain, advise, warn and be a good consultant; (5) be patient with obstacles; (6) be able to actually do what you teach others; and (7) be a leader and role model for society.
