Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a major contributor to increased morbidity and mortality rates among both mothers and infants. Pregnant women diagnosed with anemia require appropriate care and guidance to prevent complications. To address this issue, an E-book was developed to emphasize the importance of iron-rich diets, prenatal supplements, and awareness of the risks associated with anemia during pregnancy. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of the E-book in reducing the incidence of anemia among at-risk pregnant women. The content of the E-book was reviewed and validated by five experts and tested among 30 pregnant women. The methodology was a quasi-experimental design, which assessed the impact of the E-book on preventing anemia in pregnant women at risk. The study included a sample of 50 pregnant women attending antenatal clinics. Participants were selected based on gestational age of less than 20 weeks and hematocrit levels between 33 – 35.9 vol%. Hematocrit levels were subsequently monitored at 32 weeks of gestation. The effectiveness of the intervention was analyzed using a paired t-test, with statistical significance set at p-value < 0.05. The findings demonstrated that the use of the E-book significantly reduced the incidence of anemia during pregnancy, with a statistically significant p-value < 0.01.
