Main Article Content
Abstract
This article focuses on a study of the Laos ethnic group in Sisaket Province. Its objectives are: 1. to investigate the background of the Laos ethnic group in Sisaket Province 2. to give a presentation on the outstanding identity of the Laos ethnic group in Sisaket Province by using documentary research and presenting it in descriptive analytics. The findings found that, at first, the Laos ethnic group had immigrated from the South of Laos before the present Khukhan city establishment. Later, they settled down in Sisaket Provincial areas widely, such as Muang District, Rasi Salai District, Uthumphon Phisai District, Kanthararom District, Non Khun District, Khukhan District. Once Commander-in-Chief Chaophrayamahakasatsuek with Khukhan, Governor Takacha moved their troops to subdue the rebels and chased them along with the army of Commander-in-Chief Chaophrayamahakasatsuek. This led to the combination between the Laos ethnic group in Sisaket Province and the original ethnic group: the Cambodian group, the Kui (Suay) group; therefore, they were both different and alike, for example, a superstitious belief, cotton weaving, agriculture--it was the specific identity of the Laos ethnic group in Sisaket Province, particularly in terms of beliefs, traditions, cultures, dressing and languages.
