The Relationship between Transformational Leadership and Academic Performance of school Administrators Srinakarin Network under the Phatthalung Primary Education Service Office Area 1
Abstract
This research aimed to 1) study transformational leadership, 2) study academic competence, and 3) study the relationship between transformational leadership and academic competence. This research was a quantitative research. The sample group used in this research were 106 out of 138 school administrators and teachers in 12 schools in the Srinakarin Network, under the Office of the Primary Educational Service Area 1, Phatthalung. The samples were obtained by opening the Krejcie and Morgan table and then using the Simple Random Sampling method to determine the sample proportion of school administrators and teachers in each school by drawing lots. The research instrument was a 5-level rating scale questionnaire. Part 1 was the level of transformational leadership practice of administrators with 59 items. Part 2 was the level of academic competence practice of administrators with 20 items, with a reliability of 0.95. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient.
The results of the research found that 1) The mean and standard deviation of transformational leadership It was found that overall, the transformational leadership was at a high level. 2) The average level of academic competence found that overall, the motivation of teachers in the school was at a high level. 3) The correlation coefficient between transformational leadership and academic competence was positively and moderately related. When considering the relationship in each aspect, it was found that there was a moderately positive relationship between the hypotheses, with statistical significance at the .01 level. Therefore, administrators must use ideological influence, consider individuality, and inspire to develop academic competence management in research to develop the quality of education management, school curriculum development, and supervision of learning management in schools.
