Article Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Contemporary Buddhist Society are processed according to the following steps.

Step 1: Submission Authors register and submit their manuscript as a Microsoft Word file through the ThaiJo system in accordance with the author guidelines, stating their affiliation and a contact telephone number in the Comments for the Editor field.

Step 2: Initial Screening by the Editorial Team The editorial team checks the manuscript for consistency with the aims and scope of the journal, compliance with the required format, and the similarity index from the CopyCatch program (which must not exceed 25%), within [7–14] days. There are three possible outcomes: (1) the manuscript proceeds to peer review; (2) the manuscript is returned to the authors for formatting corrections; or (3) the manuscript is rejected.

Step 3: Payment of the Publication Fee Once a manuscript passes initial screening, authors pay the publication fee (4,000 THB for Thai-language articles; 5,000 THB for English-language articles) as notified by the journal. The fee is non-refundable in all cases, including where the manuscript is subsequently rejected by reviewers.

Step 4: Peer Review The editorial team sends the manuscript to at least three qualified reviewers in the relevant field [from a range of institutions and not affiliated with the authors' institution]. The review is double-blind: the identities of reviewers and authors are concealed from each other. This stage takes approximately [3–4] weeks.

Step 5: Editorial Decision The editor summarises the reviewers' recommendations into one of four decisions: (1) accept without revision; (2) accept with minor revisions; (3) major revisions required and resubmit for review; or (4) reject. [A manuscript is accepted when at least two of the three reviewers recommend publication.] Decisions of the editorial board are final.

Step 6: Revision Authors revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' comments, highlighting all revised text in red, and attach a table responding to each comment. The revised Microsoft Word file must be returned through the system within one month of receiving the evaluation results. If this deadline passes without contact from the authors, the journal will regard the submission as withdrawn and reserves the right to discontinue consideration.

Step 7: Verification of Revisions and Acceptance The editorial team verifies that all revisions have been made as recommended. If revisions are incomplete, the manuscript is returned for further revision. Once the manuscript is complete, the journal issues an Acceptance Letter to the authors.

Step 8: Proof Checking Authors check the typeset proof for accuracy and notify the journal of typographical corrections only, within [7] days.

Step 9: Publication The article is published in the issue determined by the editorial board through the ThaiJo system.

Overall Timeline: From submission to acceptance takes approximately [2–3] months, depending on the promptness of the authors' revisions and reviewers' responses.

Withdrawal of Acceptance: The journal reserves the right to withdraw acceptance where the authors cannot be contacted, where revisions are not completed within the specified period, or where a breach of publication ethics is subsequently identified. Notification is sent only to the email address registered in the system.
