Abstract

Gender equity in the labor market is a critical issue that has gained significant attention at both national and global levels. This study analyzes the key barriers to gender equality in the Thai labor market, drawing from academic perspectives in both domestic and international contexts. Major factors contributing to gender disparities include the gender wage gap, obstacles to career advancement (glass ceiling), and work-life imbalance. The findings indicate that female workers in Thailand continue to earn lower wages than their male counterparts despite having similar qualifications and experience. Additionally, limited access to leadership positions and the disproportionate burden of household responsibilities hinder women's career progression. Proposed solutions include implementing fair wage policies, promoting women in leadership roles, and improving maternity leave and childcare policies. These measures are essential for reducing gender disparities and fostering greater fairness in the Thai labor market.
