Abstract

Climate change is a significant issue of the 21st century, with severe impacts on society and communities in vulnerable areas such as coastal regions, low-lying islands, and drought-prone areas. This study focuses on the effects of climate change on the social and economic aspects of these communities, particularly in terms of the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and changes in agricultural productivity. Communities living in high-risk areas are faced with displacement, the destruction of infrastructure, and economic instability, all of which affect the quality of life and public health. Additionally, social inequalities are exacerbated, with impoverished groups and ethnic minorities often bearing the brunt of the impacts. Adapting to climate change requires strengthening infrastructure and support from governments and organizations to help mitigate the effects and enhance the resilience of these communities.
