Abstract

Competency-based assessment is a process that focuses on evaluating students' practical abilities in various situations, rather than just testing theoretical knowledge. Competency-based assessment is therefore crucial for developing skills and abilities that can be applied in daily life or work. It uses various approaches and frameworks that ensure systematic and standardized evaluation.

Competency-based assessment can be divided into several types, such as performance-based assessment, case-based assessment, or simulation-based assessment, which are suitable for evaluating specific skills. Clear criteria and indicators are established to assess the specific competencies required.

The framework for competency-based assessment includes defining the competencies to be developed, selecting appropriate tools and methods for assessing those competencies, and using assessment data to improve and adapt learning programs to suit the learners. This type of assessment helps learners demonstrate their true abilities in performing tasks efficiently, responding better to the demands of the labor market and society.

This study found that competency-based assessment can be applied in various contexts, including compulsory education, higher education, and industrial training. It offers flexibility and can effectively enhance learners' learning outcomes in a tangible way.
