THE MANAGEMENT OF MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE BY THE RESIDENTS OF KUANWAN SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, MUEANG NONG KHAI DISTRICT, NONG KHAI PROVINCE

Abstract

This study is a study of the waste management behavior of people in Kuan Wan Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Nong Khai District, Nong Khai Province in 3 aspects: waste reduction, waste reuse, and waste separation. The sample population of 7 villages, totaling 4,181 people, was randomly selected using simple random sampling. The sample size of Yamane was 15 people. The variables used in this research were divided into independent variables: gender, age, education level, length of stay in the community, monthly household income, number of household members, and type of residence. Factors affecting waste management behavior were knowledge of waste management, awareness of waste management news, and participation in waste management. The dependent variable was waste management behavior, which was divided into waste reduction, waste reuse, and waste separation. The research instrument was a questionnaire developed by the researcher for data collection. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, test statistics, and one-way analysis of variance.

The research results found that:

1) Most of the sample had a good level of knowledge about waste management and had a low level of awareness of waste management news. and participation in waste management is at a good level

2) The overall waste management behavior of the people is at a fair level when considering each aspect. It was found that most people have waste management behaviors in terms of reducing waste generation, reusing, and sorting waste at a fair level.

3) Factors affecting waste management behaviors in terms of reducing waste generation and sorting waste are awareness of news about waste management and participation in waste management. Knowledge about waste management has no effect on overall waste management behavior and other aspects.
