Keywords:
Chinese ancient costume drama series, Thai translation, Translation strategyAbstract
This research on the Thai translation of ancient Chinese costume drama series titles on the WeTV platform is a document - based study. Focusing on 60 ancient Chinese drama series aired on WeTV from 2020 to 2023, it applies Newmark's translation framework. The findings suggest that translating these titles into Thai requires two main strategies: emphasizing the Source Language (SL), with word - for - word translation accounting for 11.2%, and emphasizing the Target Language (TL). The TL - emphasis approach includes Adaptation translation (36%) and Free Translation (53%). Among these techniques, translation based on the core of the story is the most prevalent.
